Espedair Street is a fictional rock autobiography; it follows the career of Daniel Weir, aka Weird, from high school outcast through wild success to self-recriminating seclusion following the on-stage death of a band member. It's usually melancholy, often very funny, and is a good story: it's one of the better non-SF books that Banks has produced. It's worth reading.
