Ghost World is about Enid and Rebecca, best friends and recent high school graduates. Enid isn't as pretty as Rebecca, but she's more creative and less of a conformist. She's considering going to college across the country, something that both friends realize will probably split them up forever. Clowes does as great job capturing not only the good things about friendship, but also the competition and antagonism. Like Maus and Love and Rockets, this is some of the best storytelling I've seen in a graphic novel. Recommended.
