book 1 of Griffin and Sabine by Nick Bantock
isbn: 0877017883
This is a fun, quick read; it's a love story told through postcards and letters. The book is beautifully designed and produced -- the postcards are printed on heavy paper and the letters are actually contained in envelopes attached to the pages. Since both correspondents are artists, Bantock had a good excuse to make the postcards and letters themselves beautiful as well. I don't think the narrative is as well done as the art (certainly it's not as good as the letters in Possession), but they work well together to create an interesting and slightly surreal story. |
