book 3 of Harry Potter by J. K. Rowling
isbn: 0439136350
The third Harry Potter book is a little longer than the previous two, and it deals with more mature themes: violence and death are real dangers, and Harry and his friends appear to be discovering more gaps in the adults' knowledge and understanding of situations. Contrast this to the usual structure of a book written for children, where the adults may not know the particular details of what is going on but they have somehow ensured that everything is going to end well. Also, the plot is more sophisticated (convoluted, actually) than that of previous books, and the relationships within Harry's group of friends continue to grow more complex. |
