The prelude to The Lord of the Rings tells the story of a journey undertaken by the reluctant Bilbo Baggins, along with a group of dwarves and the wizard Gandalf, to rescue dwarvish treasure from a dragon. The book succeeds at many levels; it's a fun adventure for children, the characters are interesting and entertaining, and of course the descriptions and world building are top-notch. Recommended.
