This is a clever book; it's a celebration of Proust's work, as well as a slightly tongue-in-cheek self-help manual. Parts of How Proust Can Change Your Life are really insightful, and other parts drag on for too long -- it might have benefited from slightly more heavy-handed editing. Even so, I enjoyed it and it reawakened my desire to read Proust (six months ago I picked up Swann's Way, and quit after about 80 pages). |
