Jill, our very imperfect heroine, starts out having a good day when somebody sells her a signed first edition of a Jack London book. Things turn bad when the real owners of the book decide that they want it back, and Jill is dragged into the seedy side of life in LA. Although the situations are completely absurd and the book is generally funny, the overall tone is serious, which is nice since we can take Jill seriously as a character. She is tough, cynical, and paranoid, but still likeable. This is a fun book.
