More Programming Pearls

book 2 of Programming Pearls

by Jon Bentley

isbn: 0201118890
subject: Computing, Nonfiction
finished: Early Fall 1997

Subtitled "confessions of a coder," this is the second of two collections of Bentley's essays on programming; I picked it up first since it looked more interesting. It takes a hard look at implementation issues that they don't teach you in school, and more importantly, brings across the fun of programming. The "bumper sticker computer science" section was my favorite; it's a collection of random rules, maxims, and sayings about programming. This is a fun book that would probably not be interesting to non-programmers.
