This is a really addictive book -- I read the whole thing during a day I spent traveling to see my parents for Christmas. It continues the San Francisco soap opera started in Tales of the City, and again follows a number of sympathetic characters whose lives keep intersecting. Maupin writes great dialogue, and this is an entertaining light read.
