Eve, the protagonist of Otherwise Engaged, is a neurotic thirty-something who spends her time preparing the perfect wedding, fretting, and whining. Despite the occasional amusing line or scene, it's hard to feel much sympathy for her or empathy with her. Finnamore's second book, The Zygote Chronicles, is better.
