This is a small collection containing seven short stories, three poems, and two essays. Because the stories are reprints and the book is difficult to find (only 1000 copies were printed), the main reason I went to the trouble of finding a copy was to read the essay The Books in The Book of the New Sun. I was not disappointed, and I doubt that other New Sun fans will be either. The stories are good too, and several of them are very funny. I recommend this book, although readers new to Wolfe would do better to start with The Fifth Head of Cerberus or The Shadow of the Torturer. |
