book 1 of Live Robots by Rudy Rucker
isbn: 0380701774
This book rocks. It's about Cobb Anderson, an angry old man suffering because he taught the robots how to bop, and Sta-Hi Mooney, whose main claim to fame is having nearly had his brain eaten by the Little Kidders. They go to the moon where the boppers are having something of a civil war; Cobb gets himself dissected and Sta-Hi finds a symbiotic cloak that makes him talk with a Japanese accent. Software is really funny; it's also good SF, and quite ahead of its time considering it was written in 1982, which is before we called cyberpunk cyberpunk. Recommended. |
