Near the end of every semester I raid the SF/F section of a used bookstore and grab a stack of mind candy to entertain myself while life is too hectic for serious reading. I grabbed a couple of Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser books the other day and was pleasantly surprised -- the stories are definitely a notch above the average Sword and Sorcery. Despite being somewhat predictable, they are well written, darkly humorous, and sometimes disturbing in a Lovecraftian way.
