Talking Heads was a pretty weird band. I think this book captures that weirdness, and it does so in an engaging way. It also places significant events in Heads history into their cultural context: 1970s and 80s America. Being a "child of the 80s," I enjoyed this; others' mileage may vary. Bowman gathered information for this book by talking to a lot of people and reading a lot of background material; the result feels like an outsider's view of the band. Still, it's a fun read. |
