Wetware

[cover]

book 2 of Live Robots

by Rudy Rucker

isbn: 0380701782
subject: SF, Fiction and Literature, Humor
finished: 2/28/1998

Wetware takes place a decade after Software, and is about a bopper plot to merge with Earth's gene pool, and the human counterattack. It features Sta-Hi, turned from smartass kid into embittered detective, some petaflop robots, a biologist named Della Taze, and her bizarre son Manchile. This book has less sex and drug humor than its predecessor, but fortunately the absurd situations remain. There are references to Pynchon and Burroughs, and a couple of Kerouac-inspired boppers -- what more could you ask for? Recommended.
