The Wild Party is a long poem set in the 1920s; the recently released version includes drawings by Art Spiegelman, who rescued it from obscurity. The poem paints a vivid (but grim) picture of the anything-goes atmosphere of the time, and of its consequences. Unfortunately, I don't think the poetry is very good and I'm not sure that the story amounts to anything more than a morality play. |
